My husband and I were looking at your photos and were trying to determine if your trees in view were redwoods. Looks like it to me. I don't recognize the market name. Your elevation is 1000 or so feet higher than ours. We can be at the coast in about an hour from here or we can drive East and be inland in the Valley where we do our shopping and such. Do you get snow where you're at? We do ,but only on the pass on the way to our home. Only once have we seen it actually in our own little valley. We've been snowed in and snowed out from our home before. How far from a town are you?Do you have to use satellite to get internet service? We do.We also don't have a regular phone. We're too far out for everything.
Now I have a better idea where you are- the coastal redwoods. Our nearest redwoods are at Calaveras Big Trees State Park. (I thought you might be living in Arnold or Murphys.) The redwood-looking trees are cedar. We get snow several times a year, usually not too much. We used to camp at Big Basin, Hendy Woods, and Humboldt-I do miss the coastal redwoods. The summers are awfully hot and dry up here.
Duh, I forgot to finish... We're about 25 mins. from the nearest 'little town,' and an hour from a slightly bigger town. We have satellite TV, but use a dial-up internet connection. You have no telephone? Sounds like heaven to me! You really ARE off the grid!!!
