Stuff Portrait Friday again!

SPF, hosted by Kristine, is something I enjoy doing occasionally, so here goes:

This week's subject is the 80s. I combined something from the 80s you can't let go of with a picture of you from the 80s in this first photograph from 1983.

Me and 'Nettie' -

A favorite CD of 70s and 80s music - Posted by Picasa

The second photo shows a CD or movie from the 80s. My favorite Earth Wind and Fire music is from the 70s, but there are a few 80s songs on this one.

It's already 100 degrees in the shade up here, and my icemaker is slowing down, so it's out to the store for me. Enjoy your weekend everyone!

So are you just TOTALLY tan or is there a reddish brown hue to that picture? I know you said you're tan now from being outside a lot but my God Woman, you were hella tan back then too! (Notice the 80's lingo peppered through my comment?)

It's a tan. When I delivered my daughter the doctors were loving the bikini tan... well what other kind of bathing suit would fit?
I used to have a tanning bed, but when I had to replace the timer for the third time I finally got rid of it. (We were getting ready to move anyway.) It was a real effort to open the top to work on it, and there were no service people in Northern CA. The company actually offered me a job!

Oops, you came in as I was commenting!
Thanks!
Yep, it's humid up here too. I'm with you... someplace cold, or at least cooler than this!

Thanks!
I'm waaaay old-school as far as music goes, but alot of my favorites are classics.

So true! I tend to get psoriasis, and part of the dermatologist's RX was time in their 'box,' which was a stand-up tanning closet.
Keeping a tan (for me) keeps the psoriasis away. I'm lucky that I never burn!

Of course they offered you a job...."Yes you too could look like the lovely and luscious SierraBella if only you had one of our tanning beds! Call now for your free brochure ~ includes before and after pictures of beautiful SierraBella's bikini tan lines!!"

The phones would be a'ringing off the hook!

Guess I 'shoulda' been more specific- the company offered me a job to service their tanning beds for the Northern CA region.
They were based in Florida, so tech school would have been fun!
I already had like 26 years with my company, and wasn't looking for a second job, so I said no thanks!

Yes I am from CA too and I USED to be very tan (my brother used to say bad things about "my daddy" because he was so pale and I wasn't ~ we *do* have the same Daddy btw)

But I'm not tan anymore. I spend too much time sitting on my ass indoors (for *cough* work ~ ie: wasting time on the internet).

Besides, I freckle now. ICK!

That's too funny (what your brother said.) My dad used to blame the milkman because two of us had darker hair and brown eyes, and the other two had blonde hair and blue eyes.
I'd think if you got enough freckles, they would all merge and you'd become tan?

That is a beautiful pic. I can imagine how you felt looking at that little sweetie. I loved Earth Wind & Fire. And I have never been to California. I've been to most states, but not the whole west coast, Alaska and Hawaii. All the others, though. One of these days.

Especially sweet since she was my third baby and the last.
Now that's what I want to do- visit every state! Been to quite a few though.
Hope you make it out here sometime, there's lots to see and do.

Heh, I have the dark hair and (very) dark brown eyes and my brother is blonde/blue eyed. My Dad has dark hair and dark eyes, so who's Your Daddy Brother Boy!?! Actually we're split 50/50 he looks like my Mom coloring wise.

Both my parent's are pasty though, so that aspect is unusual for me to have. My Mom used to always talk about my "olive complexion" and I thought that meant she swallowed an olive pit and I grew from there.

Oh and you had asked where the Hubs got our D-70 online. He went through the normal avenues (Yahoo shopping.com, Bizrate.com) and finally found a place with a decent price. However he can't remember where he finally got it from since he looked at so many! But he said there were so many places and the prices seem to be very competitive.

As far as the various lenses, yah you got me. I'd love to get a nice macro lense someday (we only have the 18-70 lense currently)

I love the shape of your baby's legs in that picture. And yes, your tan rocks in those red shorts with white piping trim!

It looks like it sucks everywhere right now, for different reasons.
Wish I could trade this heat for someone's rain just about now.

soozieq-
... swallowed an olive pit? The things kids imagine!
I have two friends, both camera saavy, who might assist me with choosing some of the specs. Once I figure all that out, it'll be time to pull out the credit card.

cheesecakey-
I'm hating this heat and humidity. Thinking about watching Fargo, maybe all that snow will cool me down...

amy-
Welcome!
I love baby-legs, especially chubby ones! Not to mention cute little baby-butts.
Loved your posting I just read with the drawing of those teens... too funny!

Don't tell me it was "After the Love is Gone?" That would just suck today, wouldn't it?
Well you can come sit on my porch anyday you wish!
I was just downloading recent shots from my 'inexpensive' camera and have a couple that are acceptable, so may have more pics up soon.
The grandson is visiting, so blogging will be real sporadic for a couple of weeks.
