So How Do You Blog?

A morning cup of coffee- Posted by Picasa

This morning while having coffee on the lower deck I was lucky enough to see both a mama deer and her fawn feeding below, but not quick enough to catch a decent photo!

Lately I've found myself setting my alarm for 7am., making a pot of coffee, and intending to blog (and return emails) until 8am at which time we can get ourselves outside and fire up the weedwhacker or the wood chipper without disrupting the neighbors.
The usual plan is to get things done around the house, and blog only at breaktimes after that initial coffee-hour.
By 3pm I'm done for the day, ready to start dinner and relax with Mr. SB.

I'm curious, though. Do you blog from work? Do you allow yourself a limited time in which to blog? Do you write some days and just read on others? Do you need to wait for the family to get tucked in for the night? Are you an insomniac writer?

How do you blog?

I'm terrified to blog from work. If anyone is going to get caught, it'll be me. Now that I'm back to one hour lunch breaks, I tend to use that time to read my favorites and comment. If I have a story I want to tell, I set aside time on the weekend so that I can take the time to organize my thoughts. Shorter entries are made usually while dinner is cooking, resulting in some slightly over cooked food lol.

When I was working, "If anyone is going to get caught..." was my motto too!
Our various computers required individual log-ins, so I was terrified to even play Solitaire during breaks.
I'm with you on the dinner entries too- once in a while I get some back and forth mileage between my office and the kitchen during dinner prep.

Well, since we just started our own business very recently, I do blog from work (I'm the President and The Hubs is the Vice President, so I'll just fire his ass if he gives me any grief) ;-)

Prior to starting this "adventure", I didn't blog at all. Doing it at work, would have been a BIG No-No. When you're dealing with millions and MILLIONS of dollars (other people's money of course) they tend to look down on anything that might distract you or cause you to make a mistake!

I did read a few blogs here and there in the evenings, which is probably what sparked me to start my own.

Right now, we're in a big time lull (in between sport seasons), so I have PLENTY of free time. Once things pick up again, then I won't be able to blog or read quite as consistently. In fact, right now I "blog" (writing, reading, uploading pictures) probably more hours than I do anything else. Sad, but true.

The fact that our office is torn up at home and we have NO computers currently hooked up is causing me withdrawals in the evenings! I try to squeeze in ALL my blog fixes at work before we head home each night at 6pm. Gah, I need a life.

I blog off and on a little during the kid's TV time and naptime. I spend a lot more time on it at night after they go to bed.

I read and write any time during the workday that I get a chance. Sometimes it's just too busy. At home I seem to be spending more and more time on blogging. Ichabod hasn't said anything yet but I have to make sure it doesn't cut too much into the other half of my life. I really enjoy blogging and the group that has formed from it.

As President, I'd guess you're allowed to blog from work!
Sounds like your home office will be back up and running soon, but I guess you'll be painting first?

kat-
Yeah, I'd imagine having young children keeps you hopping!
When my 3 were young, and I worked full-time, I can't imagine finding the time to blog.
When my grandson visits I feel like I have no spare time. He's just turned 3.

Oops, your comment came in while I was posting!
Sometimes Mr. SB gets a little jealous of the time I spend on this. I share some of the pictures and stories with him, and have offered to help him start a blog of his own. I'm secretly glad he doesn't want to do it since we only have the one computer.

LOL, between work PCs and home machine we have three computers. When Ichabod seems too restless I just point him to pictures on Jessica Rabbit's site. :-) I also share a lot of these blogger stories with him. Oh, yes, he's heard of you, too.

Mr. SB loves Jessica's site too!
I'm 'gonna' email you in a minute!

that's a great question.... when I am hanging around the house, I blog whenever I feel like it, which yesterday was a lot.... I guess it depends on my mood. Also, I tend to do it when my husband is at work so he doesn't feel neglected ;) He doesn't care that I blog but I think if I did it around him all the time he might get annoyed. I also told him he should blog, but like you, we have one main computer (the other one is for his business) and I am sure we would be fighting for space!

Oh I do the same thing with The Hubs...I talk about "SierraBella" and whoever else and he just nods and pretends to be interested. Actually, it does keep him from being jealous if he's "involved".

And actually, because of your location SierraBella, he DOES listen when I relate stories about you...even more than if I told him about Jessica Rabbit. So your grandson saying you need a boob job isn't an issue when it comes to keeping MY Hubs interest (but your locality is) ;-)

When the temps over 100 degrees, like it's been lately, I also tend to blog more.
We sure can't let the significant others feel neglected!

You slipped in here as I was posting.
My hubby was a bit jealous when he saw the avatars (?) of two of my male commenters... both younger men.
Glad the locale helps keep your husband interested, although Mountain Ranch isn't quite what Arnold is! We seem to be somewhere between romani heart's "Hooterville" and
the Ewing Ranch from "Dallas," with most of us somewhere in between.

I sit and simply...write. I don't choose the words, the words choose me. I'm an oracle.... a mere mouthpiece... and I spit nonesensical sweet nothings.

I tell Mr. SB about my blog-friends, but jeez, when he saw your picture!

Of course the words spew from within, you're Hermes, the messenger.

Funny, when I checked Hermes "avatar" I thought FOR SURE he was one of the ones your Hubby might have gotten his feathers ruffled over! I can see why ;-)

Absolutely!
Also Christian V. and the now infamous Nick Danger are two other cutie-pies.
Greenie, yet another cutie sometimes drops by, but the only way you'll see him is on his site.

What a great question. I have often wondered that about other bloggers. Me, I have no schedule at all. I work about 45-50 hours a week. I go to school full time also. I have four kids. I also bike about 100+ miles a week. I mostly blog from work and between homework as a break. Danger

I blog whenever I get the urge to spew something irrelevent and meaningless.

Considering how serious my life usually is - I will tend to blog more often when I need a laugh and to zone out for a few minutes to write a paragraph.

I don't set any specific times or days or moments...

Well, I can't see Hermes's pic, so I don't know what all the fuss is about, but he is a good writer. I do most of my reading and commenting in the morning as I'm getting my daily caffeine. I've got 3 kids so there are frequent interruptions. I usually do my posts later in the day after I've had time to think about them. I do the bookkeeping for our family business, but lately blogging has been a big distraction to getting my work done. Shame on me!

Wow you're a busy guy! Glad you somehow find the time to blog at all!

day musings-
I'll be right over to see the pics!
The writing of the blog goes fast for me, since I try to keep the posts short. It's answering comments and visiting others that takes up my time!

kitty-
I think I'd be too distracted to even try to blog from (my previous) work!

missfortunehunter-
Welcome, and love your name!
Well keep on spewing when you get that urge!

Another busy working mother! I'm guessing you just try to squeeze in any time you can, between work and children. Don't know how you all do it!

I have about 6-7 hours of free time at work, and my boss knows this. He knows I play on the internet all day, but I don't know what they would say about this. Of course, now the IT guy probably knows I'm a sexual, bipolar deviant. Then I go home and jump on mom's computer before she can and stay on until she starts whining.

PS: RaeAnn, Hermes pic is as sexy as his writing! Can't wait til he comes to Chicago!!

I think I answered this in the Oleander one. I blog too much, at inappropriate times, and I'm trying to do better. Actually, my summer work and family schedule has not allowed as much time as the winter months did, for blogging.

I feel like a piece of meat. That's not necessarily a bad thing.

Perhaps you could commission all of your adoring male fans to pose for pictures... then you'd have "The Men of SierraVistas 2005."

Maybe I should get started with the 2006 edition, and have it ready by Christmas?

I like to blog at 11 or 2 pm. My kids are home now however and I've been trying to make up for lost time. We've been out alot.
My computer is also in my upstairs bedroom which gets very hot and unlike you 100 degrees sends me packing. I go to my north rooms.

Time with your kids is precious, so I don't blame you!
My home office is on the southwest side of the house, and if it wasn't for the maple tree which shades this side it would be too hot to work in.

Hi AJ!
The first 2 years of retirement I stayed up late and then slept in every single day!
I just had to watch all the late-night TV I'd missed for all those years.
Now I like to get up and get the day started before Mr. SB wakes!
