"They Will Come"

Waitin' for the fish-  Posted by Picasa

As I've mentioned before, we have a fairly large room downstairs which serves as both a guest room and temporary storage for my youngest daughter.

Whenever my daughter and grandson visit, I urge her to go through her stuff and allow us a little more storage for our own things.

During a short visit recently, while his mama was busy, the grandson decides to help with the sorting. We hear his little three-year-old feet running downstairs and back up, bringing old toys he's re-found.

After quite a few trips, we can hear him huffing and puffing, and he staggers in with an empty fishbowl he's discovered on top of an old buffet which is taller than he is!

He was very pleased with himself, and told us he'd climbed on the bed and crawled across the "dresser" to get to it. *Grandma is having a heart attack here*

I ask if he wants to take the fishbowl home and he says "No way!" I then ask what he wants me to do with it.

He said "Put water in it Gramma." I reminded him we have no fish here.

He replied rather perturbed "Duhhh, if you put water in it, Gramma, the fish will come!"

Well duhhh...

How freaking adorable is that! There's no way he got that from the movie Field of Dreams as he's too young!

You really need to just try and keep up there SierraBella as it's obvious you just don't know these things ;-)

So are you going to put fish in there for the next time he comes to visit?

I thought it was adorable too, and no, I don't think he's seen "Field of Dreams" yet.
You're right, I'd better get with it!
We thought about getting a fish to surprise him with, but we're at the point where we want to start traveling... and I've had goldfish who've lived for years!

Oh and is THAT the chair he told you that you couldn't sit in until your butt got smaller?

Kids say the cutest things...depending on WHO they are saying them too!

soozieq-
That is absolutely the chair!
I do fit on it, although I do overlap the sides a bit.

Taking him to the store is an adventure. "Gramma, why is that lady so old? Why is she walking all funny?"

OOOOO get him a snail! Of all the fish in our tank, the snail intrigues me the most.

He is so cute. It's amazing how their brains process the world around them.

How right you are.
I'm thinkin' he's smart enough to know if he makes up a cute remark like that, his grandma will somehow make a fish appear!

don't take this the wrong way, because I love all of your pictures and stories about where you live, but if you just made a grandson blog, I would be so there! I hope he always keeps some of that innocence and faith!

With some of the stuff the grandson says and does, I probably could make a grandson blog.
You are sooooo sweet to say what you said!
And to think you might be a grandmother some day (in the distant future of course!)

I AGREE with Cheesecakey. I'd bookmark that page as well! I think I got sucker punched with the pics of his little belly and then I was down for the count with the cute things he says! He wins, HE WINS!

I left the bowl outside (with water) all day yesterday, but nothing!
It's been so hot lately that any fish would probably cook anyway.

nanina-
You said it perfectly!
Their faith in the fact that everything will be all right is incredible.
