The Games People Play

My great-grandfather and his sister

When I bought my very first computer, I quickly found (and became addicted to) both Solitaire and Free Cell.

Next came Mah Jong, and then Poker.

More recently I've found I need my daily dose of
Cryptoquote, as well as Zuma.

My most recent addiction is to the game of Text Twist.

I'm aware blogging takes up a lot of time in our lives, but I know you all are playing games too! For example, Cheesecakey has an affinity for Poker, both online and in real life.

So what computer games are you playing?

None. I haven't taken time to figure them out. My spouse already thinks I'm on this computer 24-7, so....

That sounds like fun! I used to play Wheel... sitting with a friend and it was a riot.

I applaud you!
Are you using that extra time to work on those fabulous abs?

I'm guily of the same thing Eclectic is. I don't play any games on my computer. But as you know, I got that new "freaky" toy yesterday at Target so I play with that. I also picked up a new version of Merlin. I used to LOVE that as a kid.

I'm on the computer too much as is, so adding online or computer games to the mix would just be wrong. My animals would never have fresh water or clean litter boxes! And I won't even say what The Hubs clean underwear situation might look like! ;-)

Y'know I keep forgetting you all have adult responsibilities!

I seem to go through cycles. I'm either way into blogging, or Flickr, or games.

I must be trying to get everything in before my son comes up to visit in a week and a half. I don't think it would be polite to excuse myself for 4 hour periods of blogging...

I have played Solitaire, Mah Jong and Text Twist. My favorite, when I have time is Bejeweled. I used to play it for fairly long periods of time. It can be done whilst conversing or watching TV.

Since I started blogging I rarely play games at all.

Do you have a Flickr account? I'd like to make you one of my contacts.

awww, thanks for the mention :)

I even have a poker game on my phone, but it is so cheap that even on the most difficult setting I know how the computer plays and it's too easy to win (wish it were really like that!) I like all puzzle games and lately my son has been anihilating me in chess.

I've played every free version of Bejeweled. There's a new one on MSN of late, Hexsomething that I've been playing. I like Mah Jong too. There's another one with freaky monkey noises that I like.. Jewel Quest I think. Man, somebody slap me the next time I'm whining about my dirty house lol.

Oh, forgot about Bejeweled! I had a similar game which used colored M&Ms.
I just logged on today and found the Flickr email, I'll be adding you as a contact too!

I'll bet your son gets a big kick out of beating you in chess!

I try to clean my house, taking breaks to blog, play games and answer emails.
I tell my husband that I'm multi-tasking!

Bejeweled, Mah Jong, & Zuma ~ Then I get bored with them and don't play for a long time. Then go back and play again.

I do the same thing!
I hadn't played games other than cryptoquote for quite a while. Once I fixed my speakers I found it more fun, and have been playing more. Guess the sounds help with my timing, especially on Zuma.

I love Collapse. It is so addictive.
I also like Diamond Mine.
Before that I was addicted to Tetris and Sim City (neither are online games, but are must haves if you have a computer. Seriously fabulous!!)

Totally forgot about Tetris! I used to play that on Nintendo a whole lot!
Also played Sim City on Nintendo, and had the cheat codes for unlimited money. I have Sim City for the computer, but it's so hard to see what you're doing...

My whole family plays this, now. It is my one and only plan for warding off Alzheimer's, keeping the brain well-lubed.

OK, I played Sudoku and didn't do too well, but I intend to play again! It's awfully fun.

Thanks about the picture! If these people only knew these old photos were online they'd die...
oh, never mind...

The same ones you're playing but I have to add Bookworm to the list. It takes me about an hour to play but it's a great distraction.

Addiction is fun, too. (the card game ... heehe)

Hi, and welcome!!!
Oh great, another game to check out...
As addicted as I get (pun intended) to these games, I could disappear from Blogworld entirely!

If you play sudoku more, go into the options and check "give me all the help you can," then when you click on "how am I doing?" it'll show you any mistakes. Also, I do mostly the easy ones, sometimes the medium. Jif, the showoff, does the hard ones. It seems in every puzzle, there's at least one space that can ONLY be filled by one number, and once you find that, you're on your way, just look for the next one like that. Theoretically, no guessing is required.

I was able to go through one of the so called easy levels with no mistakes, but it took about 20 minutes...
It really is a compelling game!

I stumbled onto this thread because I too am addicted to Cryptoquote.

But let me give a shameless plug for my own new Web-based word game, Chihuahua. Like Cryptoquote, there's a daily puzzle and a scoreboard, but this is a word-making puzzle.

Thanks for stopping by. Another Cryptoquote addict... imagine!
