Recent Conversations Overheard At My House...

idea stolen from Sylvana

So, I'm working out on the property and feel the need to call my daughter.
"Hey Smurfette, its mom... did you see that baby deer leg about 50' from your door?"
"Mom, that's not a deer leg, its a goat leg!"
{silence}... "Oh, okay..."

The grandson loves to pop out of nowhere and try to scare me.
"Jesus PJ, don't do that! You'll give grandma a heart attack! What would you do then?"
"I'd get a hammer!"
"Why would you get a hammer?"
"To make sure you're dead!"

PJ is aware his PapaDon was cremated, knows that is my wish too, and claims he wants the same.
"Grandma, you know how I want to be cremated too?"
"Yes???"
"Well I have a question... what kind of cream do they use?"
"Oh honey, they don't use cream. They put you in a box and shove you in an oven."
{unbelieving stare and silence ensues.}
"Its okay honey, they make sure you're dead first."
"Do they use a hammer?"

Well... DO THEY?? *heh* That P.J. doesn't miss a trick, does he?! I'm telling you, he and C would rule the world if they hung out together. ;)

My wildland fire-fighter friend is heading your way on Tuesday for 20 days to join the other crews. How do things look close to you?

Hi Eclectic, you mountain climber!!!
There aren't any nearby fires (right now) but the smoke settled in the Sacramento Valley and up into the foothills. Even Lake Tahoe looks smoky. We got a little wind to clear things up today (just a little.) Not good for firefighting, though.

I'm glad the fire's not in your area.

Your grandson knows what a hammer's for then, eh? ;-)

Adorable picture.

Thanks, Squirl.
To think that all these years, I thought hammers were for pounding nails and prying them out!

What a cutie. Lookit those eyes!!

They better use a hammer as I plan to be cremated too and would hate to be shoved into a oven alive!

Oh and the secret word is :::::whispers::::: handsoap

Hi Sooz!
I think he's cute too.
I still remember being scared of the Poe story where there's a premature burial! Yeah, I'd prefer a hammer too.
Thanks for the secret word, now I can check out that story!

I don't know how long its been since I looked at my comments!!!
So sorry...
Yeah, the grandson (like most kids) has the most amazing insight into typically adult thoughts.

Hi, and thanks for the props!

Those are some very INTERESTING conversations!!

I would like to be cremated too. I prefer whipped cream to hammered cream.

Hi Sylvana and Susie!
Thanks for dropping by.
I rarely look at my own blog anymore. Would love to continue blogging, but feel as if I lost myself within the SierraBella persona.
I do come by to visit; in fact I read both your blogs (as well as a few others) earlier today!
I wish everybody a wonderful New Year~

Yah I shut my blog down. Didn't delete it, but came very close to doing so.

Things are um, changing, in my life and I just felt like that was one area that could fall to the wayside (and probably needed to months ago, but I kept propping it up à la "Weekend At Burnie's")

Oh, Sooz!
Don't delete your old blog!!!
You may want to go back and reread posts sometime in the future.
Hope everything works out for you... I mean that!
